Just curious to know if there is a quick fix to re-enable qF with the release of the new patch?

arrrggghhh ... totally forgot that damned patch ... just started the downloader - it will take about two hours until I can test and fix the addon ingame. I guess there are only minor changes needed to make it work again, so the update should be available in 3-4 hours ...

By the way, you made all your guides unavailable for the public - why that? I hope it's not because of the current feature and update delay - just give me 2 more days and the new basic layout should be ready for upload. This design change also involves major changes of the underlying server-scripts that hopefully give me some more flexibility for the future development of the website.

Ok, 20% already ... damn, I hate patchday ...

Ok, version 0.8.4 is available for download!

There wasn't really anything that doesn't work anymore, except for the direction arrow of the replay modul - fixed that, and updated the *.toc file for WoW version 3.1. If anybody experiences problems with the new version, please give me a note!

I apologize for jumping the gun on the latest patch. Didn't mean to make you update it for no reason. When I initially logged in after d/l the patch, none of my adds functioned. After I posted here, I relogged and sure enough qF was working just fine.

As for my guides, I will make them public again, but will definitely be sprucing them up at some point, regardless of your upcoming changes. My guides are very plain-Jane with no frills and no notes, so the perfectionist part of me pulled them from the list. Now that I got TourGuide working with the new patch, I'll be completing the Barrens tonight and continuing with the rest of my contributing data.

Afterwards, I want to go back and make my guides fully functional and helpful, by adding in notes, waypoints, and other important info that newbs will need to have when questing the zones for the first time.

Again, sorry for jumping the gun on the update.

Just caught a bug with the previous version (pre-Patch 3.1) where almost all of my quests aren't uploading because it claims they have no end. Hence, my Stonetalon Mountains guide (roughly 35 quests) was shrunk down to 7 quests contributed.

I'm going to update with the new version and see if it works or if it's a general bug regardless of version.

(Frustrated)

Hmm, that's strange, I checked your uploaded file and - bad news - the quests and their corresponding guide steps are lacking their quest ends.

Let's try to hunt that bug down:

Did you record all those quests prior to patch 3.1, or just a few of them? The patch might have cleared the addons settings thus disabling the quest recorder.

Did you already record some new quests, and if so, did the recorder recognize their turn-in? (you can check it ingame by opening the control panel and selecting the quest recorder section)

Ok, so here's my latest catch on this bug issue:

First, I completely deleted my WTF file and reset all of the UI and add-on settings.

Second, I installed the newest version of qF.

Then I decided to take the 3 Shadowfang Keep quests and watch the qF Recorder as I ran the quests.

The Book of Ur
Arugal Must Die
Deathstalkers in Shadowfang
- Deathstalkers in Shadowfang
* The Book of Ur
* Arugal Must Die

I left SFK and headed back to The Sepulcher to turn in Arugal Must Die.

Turned in the quest - the ! icon by my mini-map flashed ? indicating a change in the qF recording. I checked the recorder's status and it showed that it hadn't ended Arugal Must Die - instead it still had the last action as picking up Arugal's Head in SFK.

Then I flew to UC and turned in The Book of Ur.

Icon flashed yet again, but the status was still hung up on picking up Arugal's Head.

I now understand why large portions of my quest guides have gone missing. Hope this gives you a head start in solving this new issue.

Ok, I found the the reason for this bug - all large WoW patches seem to reset some internal flags of the quest recorder, preventing it from recording quests in it's usual manner.

Solution/Workaround: just ctrl-click the minimap button to deactivate the recorder (even if it says that the recorder is already active), and the ctrl-click the button again to reactivate the recorder. This will ensure that all internal flags are set in a correct way, even those that were influenced by the patch ...

I will do some further testing, but for now I could replicate your described bug and was able to solve it this way. I will also try to find a simple way to avaid this weired behaviour.

I reset my new DK to use as test (don't worry, he was just fresh out of Ebon Hold).

I'll try those exact 3 quests again and see what happens.
